Export all projects

For each project, go to Settings → General → Advanced → Export Project. Download the export file which includes code, issues, merge requests, and CI/CD config.

Transfer group ownership

For any GitLab groups you own, add a trusted person as Owner. Group → Members → Invite Member with Owner role.

Document CI/CD variables and runners

CI/CD variables often contain API keys and secrets. Document variable names and where the actual values are stored. Note any self-hosted runners.

Downgrade or cancel paid plans

Downgrade from Premium/Ultimate to Free tier or cancel. Contact GitLab support for estate account procedures.
