Step-by-Step Guide
Export Firestore and Realtime Database
Use Firebase Console → Firestore → Export or the firebase-admin SDK to export all database collections. Export Realtime Database as JSON.
Download Storage files
Export all files from Firebase Storage. Use gsutil or the Firebase Console to download bucket contents.
Add project collaborators
Firebase Console → Project Settings → Users and Permissions. Add a trusted person as Owner to maintain the project.
Downgrade to Spark plan or delete project
Switch from Blaze to Spark (free) plan to stop charges, or delete the Firebase project entirely. Note: deleting is irreversible.
Document Now Checklist
- Firebase project names and IDs
- Google account email linked to Firebase
- Monthly Firebase/GCP bill amount
- List all Firebase services in use (Firestore, Auth, Storage, Functions)
- Note any connected apps and their platforms
