Step-by-Step Guide
Review current monthly charges
Check Plan & Usage → Usage Summary to understand the full scope of charges. Datadog pricing per host, log volume, and APM traces can be substantial.
Remove Datadog agents from servers
Uninstall the Datadog agent from all monitored hosts to stop per-host charges. Each running agent incurs costs.
Add organization members
Organization Settings → Users → Invite. Add a trusted person as Admin if monitoring needs to continue.
Export dashboards and monitors
Export critical dashboard configurations and monitor definitions via the Datadog API. These can be recreated in a new account if needed.
Contact Datadog to cancel
Contact Datadog support or sales to cancel the contract. Some plans have annual commitments.
Document Now Checklist
- Datadog account email
- Monthly bill amount (this can be very high)
- List all monitored hosts and services
- Note any annual contract terms
- API and App key locations
